CELEBRATION EVENT INVITATION
Great Expectations - encouraging and celebrating the success of Black & Minority Ethnic students

I have pleasure in inviting you to a special event being held to celebrate the success of Black and Minority Ethnic students and to share good practice among those delivering learning to these groups. The event, hosted by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges and supported by the Learning & Skills Council and Yorkshire Forward, welcomes Councillor Mohammed Iqbal, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, as key note speaker.
The event starts at 9.30am and ends at 3pm. The morning programme will include presentations on the theme of diversity and we will hear case studies demonstrating current good practice in Further Education Colleges. We are also pleased to announce that Lenford White of NIACE and Robin Landman from the Network of Black Professionals will be speaking, along with Alison Cooke from Yorkshire Forward and Colin Forrest from Learning & Skills Council.
After lunch (during which you can network and talk to exhibitors), workshop sessions will give you the opportunity to discuss what activities can enable further increases in achievement, exchange good practice, and will focus on the following themes:
A – Engagement
B – Retention
C – Infrastructure
Delegates will then re-gather to share collective feedback and gain conclusions.
