What is diversity?
Diverse means different. We are all different, therefore diversity includes us all.
As part of this our mission is to encourage and enable organisations to adopt and develop behaviours and practices which promote inclusion, equality, diversity and achievement.
By understanding the different needs of your stakeholders whether they are employees or customers, or the many other groups that your organisation comes into contact with, we can help you recognise, adapt and enhance your culture to instigate positive changes.
By committing to embrace diversity you will see many business benefits which range from meeting legal requirements, reducing staff turnover and enhancing new product development.
Our passion for promoting diversity and inclusion combined with many years experience means we can offer unrivalled advice and guidance to help your organisation to grow and prosper.

How the Centre for Diversity defines Diversity
At its most basic level, diverse means different. Every person is different but every person matters - especially at work. It therefore follows that diversity is about anyone and everyone.
Mission
To encourage and enable organisations to adopt and develop behaviours and practices which promote inclusion, equality, diversity, and achievement.
Aims
- To raise awareness about the benefits of inclusive practices in the workplace and in communities.
- To support organisations in how they manage diversity and inclusion.
- To synthesise, assess and share good practice in the field of diversity and inclusion.
- Develop and disseminate new and innovative approaches to diversity and inclusion.
Underpinning Beliefs
The National Centre for Diversity believes because everyone is different, diversity should not be seen as a peripheral issue about people from minorities as it has been in the past. It’s a mainstream issue and it should be understood and managed in that context.
All individuals are unique. We all have characteristics that are unique to us as individuals. We all different interests, different, beliefs, different family backgrounds, different personal issues, different professional issues, different health issues, different languages, different skills, different motivations, different hopes, different aspirations, different knowledge, different views, different starting points, different potential, different life experiences, different career or job expectations, different management and support needs, different personalities etc. When we arrive at work, we bring all these differences with us and many more.
For a great many, managing people is hard. Managing the many differences and similarities, keeping people motivated and ensuring that people have (and feel that they have) a fair and equitable chance of contributing, developing and succeeding is a huge challenge even in the smallest organisations. People management has been a huge challenge since time began and it is why we have qualifications, associations, training, journals, books etc on how we can manage different people in a way that allows them to give their best and in ways that brings the best out of them.
Unfortunately, many still don’t understand the added value that Diversity brings. Many cannot make the link between having a diverse range of people in and around organisations and the business benefits of diversity and the unknown and untold potential opportunities that arrive from embracing it, which can propel organisations forward. We will help your organisation to make that link and to get equality, diversity and inclusion to work for you.
If you would like an informal discussion about how we can help your organisation to become truly inclusive, to be able to effectively manage diversity and to become more equitable contact us.
