Biography
Paul Gapper works as a Detective Inspector within the Diversity and Citizen Focus Directorate of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). As one of a team of 50,000 he is privileged to police London, one of the largest and most culturally diverse cities in the world. He has over 19 years experience of policing gained in uniform and detective duties, all attained within The Metropolitan Police Service and Hertfordshire Constabulary.
In 2004 Paul obtained a BSc (Hons) in Policing and Police Studies with Portsmouth University. Elements of the degree included psychology, sociology and political science.
In his present role, Paul is co-ordinating a team of six diversity and equality professionals who are being employed for their skills and knowledge of under represented communities. These individuals assist the MPS to become a more citizen-focused service by enabling them to respond to the diverse needs of individuals and communities throughout London. By promoting diversity they assist the organisation to develop a positive, inclusive culture for personnel that will drive performance.
Paul wants to assist the MPS to build trust and confidence with the diverse communities that it serves and to enable the 50,000 plus employees to recognise and value the strength of diversity within themselves and the organisation.
